You can learn, not only how to become a writer, but what to do next.
Some people want to do business writing within their company, while others want to produce the family stories.
Still others are driven to write a best-selling novel. Regardless of your goals, you can become a writer. I can help you.
How to Become a Writer
To be a writer takes persistence, a love of words, and a need to communicate your thoughts. You need to have the confidence to believe in your abilities to become a writer.
Many times, you just need a nudge in the right direction in order to make that novel or article or report happen. That nudge can come from one of my blogs on all aspects of writing, editing, and publishing or it can come from my mentoring of your project.
Always, I want you to meet professional standards–that means you write without errors and meeting industry norms. This isn’t always easy, but it is always doable.
Once you feel confident producing a written product, whether it is book, blog, or business plan, you may wish to market your work. Learn how to market online, develop a website, create a publishing company, learn about Ebooks, and more.
You can also learn about the commercial aspects of writing and how you can get paid doing what you love. Here are a number of blogs which address these different interests, so feel free to read and comment.
You can be a beginning writer or you can be experienced. There is something here for everyone. I welcome the beginner writers for they bring fresh talent and enthusiasm to our profession, and I hope the experienced writers will generously share their skills with all of us. Welcome!
Why We Write
Everyone, including me, writes for a different reason. There is no one established road to becoming a writer. Everyone has to find their own way.
You can learn the technical aspects of writing, but your work must come from you. You simply know that you are compelled to write–you must tell that story, you must create, and until you do, you feel incomplete.
Writing is not the easiest of professions, but it definitely is one of the most personally rewarding. When you slave over a book for months at a time, get to that last page and print it out, your heart will begin to sing. This is why we write.
You can become one of us; just become a writer.
